Dress to feel beautiful

We have received many questions about the dress code (fair enough!). We want you to feel comfortable and like yourself, so here’s a little heads-up on what to expect.

Dress Code (Cocktail / Smart Casual)
Think: elegant but breathable. The entire celebration takes place outdoors, so comfort matters just as much as style. There is no need for your most formal suit, cocktail attire or smart casual is perfect. Linen, light fabrics, and summer dresses are very much encouraged.

The venue is set on an Umbrian hillside, which means grass, gravel paths, and uneven terrain. We strongly advise against thin or stiletto heels, as they will sink into the ground and make your evening miserable. Block heels, wedges, ballerinas, sandals (preferably without socks), or flats are all great choices. Comfort is key.

Yes, all the time. (so let’s all hope for good weather!)

Once again, we will be outside all the time. June in Umbria is beautiful but unpredictable. Daytime temperatures can reach to mid-30s °C, so light and breathable fabrics are an absolute must, especially as the afternoon can get genuinely hot.
To avoid the peak heat, we plan to start at around 17:00, so the worst should be behind us by then. However, at around 500 metres altitude, once the sun sets (around 21:30), the temperature can drop significantly and a breeze tends to pick up. We strongly recommend bringing a light jacket or shawl for the evening.

From experience, we know, and have seen, that Italians love to dress up, and you can expect many of them to do just that. That said, we hope you feel beautiful and elegant, but it definitely does not mean you have to match that level of flair!
There are a few traditional “rules” Italians tend to follow: no red dresses (a man’s mistress wears red! :D), avoiding black as it can feel a bit gloomy or funeral-ish, and long dresses are more typical for weddings (though let’s not forget Italians are also much better at handling the summer heat). All that being said, these are just traditions, not expectations. If you have a shorter, more open, black, or red dress you would love to wear, we would absolutely love to see you in it.
White, however, is still a no-go, please!

Let us help you

Welcome home!

Villa Montereale sits on one of those gently rolling green hills so characteristic of Umbria, just north of Perugia. When Luca’s family moved to Italy in 2005, it was little more than a ruin, used for over a century by local farmers as stables for pigs and horses before being abandoned. Luca’s parents spent a decade restoring it into the place it is today, giving Luca a childhood surrounded by nature before he eventually left for university. It is here that we are so happy to celebrate with you.

What's the plan?

Please find the agenda below. Note that timings or details may change: things can sometimes run on “Italian time,” but we may also find ourselves running with German precision, following the plan exactly as outlined below.

Having you with us is the best gift

Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift we could ask for, especially considering how far some of you have travelled to celebrate with us. But if you would like to contribute to our honeymoon, please know that Kamilė has had one destination in her heart ever since she first watched Frodo leave the Shire: New Zealand. Any contribution toward helping this Fellowship reach Middle-earth would be warmly welcomed.
